Dead Sea salt, Dead Sea water, water, pelite, copper leaf, beeswax, red ochre, black ink and time, on an aluminium surface
The series emerged through the performance Femme en salaison, presented as part of Ciel at Wilde, Paris, and continued to develop during the residency at Atelier 11 – Cité Falguière, Paris.
Each of the three figurines is dedicated to a person who has passed away.
The title echoes the French use of the word feu, placed before the name of a deceased person, transformed here into an invocation intended to rekindle their presence.
Over time, the encounter between Dead Sea salt, copper and beeswax gives rise to a matter in the making, where crystallisation continues the process of transformation. A gesture of depositing red ochre and India ink gradually allows poppy forms to emerge, reintroducing movement at the heart of mourning.
