With Abel, Avi Sabah and I conducted an investigation into the first murder of the biblical tradition, that of the brothers Cain and Abel. Through a rereading of the biblical narrative, combined with the study of different agricultural and astronomical calendars, we undertook an inquiry to reconstruct the date, time and geographical location of this first murder, and to propose a celestial reconstruction of the event.
The perforations in the wall reproduce the constellations visible according to this reconstruction. Our drawings and paintings are inscribed within this reconstructed sky as a constellation of presences, in an attempt to reactivate an ancient memory and symbolically return to this foundational moment in order to open another possibility.
The installation thus becomes a space of passage, where reconstruction, drawing and the body seek to transform the memory of an originary conflict into an act of repair.
