Eye of the Mountain — Solo exhibition
Almacén Gallery, Jaffa
Curator : Yaniv Lachman
2022

Eye of the Mountain brings together a series of paintings created through a monotype process on black paper using pigments, tempera and other mediums. Some works were developed through successive impressions, creating layered depths and gradual appearances. This body of work emerged from a research into prehistoric cave paintings encountered in the caves of Dordogne in 2019, as well as ancient conceptions of the sky, particularly in Ancient Egypt, where the stars were understood as vectors of memory and guides in rites of passage.
The exhibition was shaped by an intimate relationship to mourning, following the death of my uncle Michel, a painter who died in an accident at a young age. In an attempt to transform a memory held in stillness, I perforated the walls of the gallery according to the map of the stars present in the sky at the moment of his death.
In place of the stars, I introduced my own works, creating a personal celestial system in which painting becomes a space of transformation and the reinscription of memory.
