In Rehearsal Space, two life-size sculptures were conceived as spaces to inhabit, traverse and activate through the body. Open to the public throughout the exhibition, they also hosted rehearsal sessions, becoming spaces for physical and choreographic research with the dancers Or Ashkenazi, Meshi Olinky, Dor Frank and myself.
The first sculpture transformed a children's bunk bed, connected to an intimate memory of childhood, into an architecture of passage. Accessible while lying down, a plaster cavity evoked at once a cave, a tomb and a uterine space, exploring the body as both a tool of measurement and a site of transformation.
The second sculpture, built around the imprint of the body of someone dear to me - a friend living with a serious illness - referred to the forms of mummification in ancient Egypt and to spaces of bodily transformation.
From this research at the intersection of sculpture, space and movement emerged the performance Measuring the Night, presented to the public on the final day of the exhibition.
