9 monotypes on paper and wall adhesive
Cygnus X-1 takes its title from the binary system formed by the giant star HDE 226868 and an invisible black hole, whose presence is revealed only through its gravitational effects.
The nine monotypes, evoking the stars of the constellation Cygnus, originate from a single carved wooden matrix shaped as a rocky cavity. With each impression, the material undergoes transformation: ink and watercolour spread under the pressure of the body, altering the image and giving rise to new variations.
Installed as a constellation around a large black stone drawing reproduced as a wall adhesive, the prints explore the relationship between singularity and repetition, between invisible forces and the transformations of matter. The installation enters into dialogue with the spirit of the Made Anywhere Salon, dedicated to editorial and experimental practices.
