Snake Shall I Become (the 4th hour) emerged from a research project on the horned viper, a recurring figure in Egyptian hieroglyphs and the Book of the Dead. Drawn to its qualities of movement, I explored the serpent as a vector of transformation, passage and regeneration. In parallel, I investigated mourning rituals associated with the goddess Hathor, whose presence is linked to dance, copper and funerary practices.
This research extended into the observation of horned vipers in their natural habitat, in the dunes of the Negev Desert, together with the zoologist Aziz Subach. From the encounter between research, observation and embodiment emerged a calligraphic practice, choreographic scores developed with the dancers Ortal Atsbaha and Dor Frank, as well as life-size copper sculptures.
The serpent thus becomes a vector of transmutation: a living form that connects movement, matter and ritual, opening the possibility of restoring movement to the body in the face of the stillness of mourning.
